5 Zusammenfassung
Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit konnten funktionalisierte Pyridine, 2,2ý-Bipyridine und Benzolderivate synthetisiert und durch die konsequente Ausnutzung verschiedener Chemo- und Regioselektivitäten gerichtet verknüpft werden. Das ermöglichte den Aufbau von gewinkelten und linearen Bausteinen mit inkorporierten Bipyridineinheiten, den Ausgangsverbindungen für formtreue Macrocyclen mit Donorstellen.
Die Sonogashira-Kreuzkupplung der Bausteine lieferte einen formtreuen Macrocyclus mit Ausmaßen von ca. 2.0 x 1.2 nm. Der Macrocyclus besitzt zwei frei drehbare Bipyridindonorstellen und an der Peripherie löslichkeitsvermittelnde Hexyloxymethyl-seitenketten. Durch Variation der Reaktionsbedingungen konnte die Ringschlußausbeute auf 28% gesteigert werden, so daß Cyclus nun über eine 18 stufige Synthese in Mengen von etwa einem halben Gramm zugänglich ist. Darüber hinaus wurde die Synthese des Cyclus so variiert, daß verschiedene Seitenketten und Schutzgruppen (Hexyl-, MOM, THP) an die Peripherie angeknüpft werden konnten. Es wurden durch Kombination verschiedener Bausteine vier unterschiedliche Substitutionsmuster realisiert.
Anhand von Modellverbindungen gewonnene Erkenntnisse konnten für die Synthese von Rutheniumkomplexen der Cyclen und genutzt werden. Der Nachweis einer erschöpfenden Komplexierung wurde mit Maldi-Tof-Massenspektrometrie und NMR- Spektroskopie geführt. Besonders überzeugend war, daß die Symmetriegegebenheiten vollständig mit den Signalen und Kopplungsmustern der 1H-NMR-Spektren korrelierten. Anhand von NOE-Experimenten in Acetonitril konnte festgestellt werden, daß sich das komplexierte Ruthenium im zeitlichen Mittel an der Außenseite der Cyclen befindet.
Einen besonderen Höhepunkt stellen drei Einkristallstrukturanalysen von Cyclen mit unterschiedlichen Substitutionsmustern dar. Die Cyclen sind planar, wobei der Innenraum Abmaße von etwa 1.0 x 1.5 nm aufweist. Im Kristallgitter werden Kanäle ausgebildet, in denen sich die Seitenketten und eingeschlossene Lösemittelmoleküle befinden.
Die Cyclen bilden bei Temperaturen von oberhalb 200°C flüssigkristalline Phasen aus. Das wurde anhand von DSC-Messungen und Texturbildern nachgewiesen. Die Art der Phasen konnte nicht bestimmt werden. Röntgenkleinwinkelstreuversuche scheiterten, da sich das Material bei diesen hohen Temperaturen langsam zersetzte. Rastertunnelmikroskopische Untersuchungen der Cyclen zeigten, daß diese an Graphitoberflächen Monoschichten ausbilden, die molekular aufgelöst werden konnten.
Summary
The report describes the syntheses of pyridines, 2,2ý-bipyridines and benzene derivatives and the connection of these units using the chemo- and regioselectivity in Pd° catalysed couplings. So the construction of rigid bipyridine building blocks for the generation of macrocycles with donor positions was achieved.
The Sonogashira cross-coupling of these building blocks gave a macrocycle with a size of approx. 2.0 x 1.2 nm. The Macrocycle has two rotating bipyridine donor units and hexyloxymethyl sidechains for solubility reasons. The yield of the cycle could be increased by varying the conditions of the ring closure reaction. The cycle is now available in quantities of approx. 400 mg in 18 steps.
The synthesis of ruthenium complexes of the cycles was possible by transfering the experiences made with model compounds. Complete complexation was proved by Maldi-Tof and NMR-spectroscopy. Particulary convincing was the good correlation of the characteristic symmetry with the signals and coupling constants of the 1H-NMR-spectra. NOE-experiments in acetonitrile have shown, that the ruthenium is on the outside of the cycle most of the time.
Beyond this it was possible to vary the synthesis in a way that different side chains and protecting groups (Hexyl-, MOM, THP) could be introduced in the periphery of the cycle. By combination of different building blocks four different substitution patterns of the cycle could be realized. By deprotection of one kind of protecting groups under conservation of the other it was possible to generate a soluble rutheniumcomplex with free hydroxy functionalities. The introduction of new side chains would be possible here and could have some influence on solubility and aggregation.
A highlight of this work are three crystal structures of cycles with different side cains. The cycles are planar, whereby the interior has a size of approx. 1.0 x 1.5 nm. In the crystal the cycles form channels, which are filled with solvent molecules and side chains of neighbouring cycles.
The cycles form liquid crystals at temperatures above 200°C. This was proved by DSC measurements and texture pictures. The type of the phases could not be determinated. SAXS-measurements were not possible because of the slow decomposition of the material at high temperatures. Scanning tunnel microscopy measurements of the cycles have shown, that monolayers on graphit surfaces are formed, which could be resolved on a molecular scale.
