Abstract:
The liberal-national movement of the 1830s and 1840s attempted to concentrate
the mass emigration in colonies so to preserve "Germandorn" abroad. Many
settlement projects were made, only few executed. Largest among them those of
the Gießen-Society and the Texas Association.
