Die Videokapselendoskopie ist bei Dünndarmstrikturen aufgrund der Gefahr der
Kapselretention kontraindiziert. Radiologische Untersuchungen zum Ausschluss
solcher Strikturen sind nicht zuverlässig. Die Patency Kapsel wird bei
Verdacht auf eine Dünndarmstenose vor der Videokapselendoskopie gegeben und
ist der radiologischen Diagnostik im Hinblick auf funktionelle
Dünndarmstrikturen überlegen.

Strictures of the small bowel are a contraindication for Capsule Endoscopy as
they can lead to capsule retention. Radiologic tests of the small bowel are
not reliable enough in the exclusion of small bowel strictures. The Patency
Capsule can be given prior to Capsule Endoscopy and is superior compared to
radiological tests in regard to functional stenosis of the small bowel.
