In this cumulative dissertation the following Organic Classes of fluorophores were investigated:
1. Diaminodicyanoaquinones (DADQs) as a novel class of fluorescent dyes as well as their anomalous aggregation behaviour.
2. Highly fluorescent Benzothiadiazoles (BTDs) as redox switches
3. Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons as fluorophores (A chiral Pentaphene derivative and fluoranthenes)
