dc.description.abstract
This dataset contains four simulation cases (identifier: s, r1, r2, r3), one smooth case (s) and three cases with small-scale surface roughness (r1, r2, r3). The netCDF file names in the dataset include grid information and the date of creation of the data on the High-Performance Computing (HPC) system. The Reynolds number in this simulation is Re=1000, based on the laminar Ekman layer thickness, the geostrophic wind and kinematic viscosity. The turbulent flow is simulated with tLab using a computational grid with dimensions of 3072 x 656 x 3072 and a spatial resolution at the surface of 2.3 × 1.0 × 2.3 in terms of smooth wall units in the streamwise, wall-normal and span-wise directions respectively. The domain size is scaled to 0.27 in terms of Rossby radius. This dataset contains a PDF file outlining the simulation setup and description of the variables contained in the netCDF files. A detailed description of the methodology and implementation is found in the git repository https://github.com/turbulencia/tlab, which contains the relevant code and a manual.
