Abstract
This data set contains new experimental results on the partitioning of lithophile, siderophile, and chalcophile elements between metal-melt and silicate-melt and between sulfide-melt and silicate-melt at high pressures (1 GPa <= P <= 20 GPa) and high temperatures (1673 K <= T <= 2573 K). The data set contains partition coefficients for Li, Mg, Al, Si, S, Ca, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Ga, Ge, As, Se, Rb, Zr, Nb, Mo, Ag, Cd, In, Sn, Sb, Te, Cs, Hf, Ta, W, Au, Pb, and Bi, which may be used to model the early chemical evolution of the terrestrial planets and their differentiation into a metallic core and a silicate mantle.
The experimental run products were analyzed for major and trace elements at the Institut für Mineralogie, Universität Münster, using field emission electron microprobe (FE-EPMA) and laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS). The presented partition coefficients were calculated from matrix-corrected LA-ICP-MS data.
