GeLeGanz project is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. In collaboration of Freie Universität Berlin, Universität Hamburg, and the German Children and Youth Foundation, it aims to explore the conditions under which socially and educationally disadvantaged immigrant students in Germany can profit from attending all-day schools, i.e. a form of extended education. This video presents a selection of features of all-day schools in Germany, focusing on primary schools. There is considerable variation in the organisational, temporal, and content-related design of all-day primary schools and their offerings across the sixteen German federal states. This video
refers to the general features of the German all-day primary school system across all federal states and is based on the findings of the StEG school management survey (StEG consortium, 2019), which are outlined using the characterisation tool developed by Schuepbach (2018).
