When was the last time you talked about a paper that wasn’t yours? Or a study that you didn’t find to directly use in your research? What an absurd question you may think. After all, reading papers is the bread and butter of research. But think about it. In the fast-paced realm of academia, we often find ourselves mindlessly skimming through articles. Caught in a constant hunt for information we can directly utilize and cite in our papers. The luxury of time – to thoroughly engage with the different research streams in Information Systems (IS) – is a rarity in our packed schedules. Even more scarce are the opportunities to discuss them with peers, colleagues, and friends. Allowing ourselves this luxury, we founded the Information Systems Reading Club (ISRC) in June 2023. Every week, we discuss both the newly published and the timeless classics of IS research. As a result of the sessions in the past year, we have curated a reading list representing our journey. It includes full papers, essays, editorials, and even three books. Whether you are an IS expert or a curious newcomer, there is something in this list for you. We encourage you to grant yourself the luxury of exploring these papers, even if they may seem to go beyond your immediate research focus.
