Abstract:
Based on the results of a three-year German-Chinese comparative research project, this article investigates the underlying structures of state-society cooperation. Taking social services offered by societal actors to migrants in two Chinese and two German cities as case studies, we identify and analyse characteristics and underlying rationales of cooperation between local governments and NPOs.
