Sie ist das Rückgrat der Stratigraphie; The „Befund“-file of the excavation section “Rotes Haus” consists of the data of 4957 “Fundstellen” (units of the archaeological record, often confused with so called locus or loci) which were observed and documented consecutively and filed independently from the excavation year. A “Fundstelle” consists of homogeneous cultural soil that is leveled three dimensionally. It is the backbone of the stratigraphy.
