Ein solches Verständnis verlangt auch nach einem neuen Steuerungsmodell für Organisationstechnologie, welches dem Management in technologiegetränkten Organisationen alternative Ansatzmöglichkeiten produktiver Technologienutzung aufzeigt.","Dynamics of modern technology make it hard for scholars of organization science to take a consistent stand on the correlation of technology and organization. Work- and communication-processes are saturated with business software. This dissertation thesis concerns the social construction of new information technology in organizations and the temporal pattern of its implementation. The thesis reports a total of six case studies of organizational change activities concerning the SAP ERP system R/3 the first years after its installation in small and medium-sized firms. The major focus lies on the temporal pattern of technological adaptations implemented by organizations and in particular on examining in this context the broadly accepted conception of brief windows of opportunity that are assumed to close abruptly after a short initial period of intensive changes to the newly implemented technology despite the ongoing need for process modifications. Evidence from two carefully selected in depth case studies supports the constructionist perspective: a flurry of modifications to the ERP systems took place in both firms studied, eventually transforming the originally external technology into an individualized organizational one. The evidence however, did not confirm the idea of brief windows of opportunity , opposed to that both firms and their actors continued to modify the rather complex ERP system over the entire time of observation. Furthermore, the bulk of the completed modifications proved to be important in terms of usage. Consequently we promote the parting from the assumption of technological contingency for organizational technology and stipulate a conception of technology as a continuous process. Such an understanding requires new models of control, helping managers in technology-driven organizations find new ways of using and shaping technology.","https://refubium.fu-berlin.de/handle/fub188/5912||http://dx.doi.org/10.17169/refubium-10111","urn:nbn:de:kobv:188-fudissthesis000000002221-2","ger","http://www.fu-berlin.de/sites/refubium/rechtliches/Nutzungsbedingungen","Information Technology||Process Theory||Organization","300 Sozialwissenschaften::330 Wirtschaft::330 Wirtschaft","Technologie als Prozess","Eine empirische Untersuchung organisatorischer Technologiegestaltung am Beispiel von Unternehmenssoftware","Technology as Process","An empirical study of technological design within organizations considering business software as example","Dissertation","free","open access","Text","Wirtschaftswissenschaft","FUDISS_derivate_000000002221","FUDISS_thesis_000000002221","http://www.diss.fu-berlin.de/2006/346/"
