We estimate that a one percent increase in the LBT rate decreases the LBT base by 0.45 percent, based on the universe of German LBT return files, which include corporations and unincorporated businesses. However, the fiscal equalization scheme largely compensates municipalities for the loss in the LBT base when they increase the LBT rate. Our estimates suggest that using tax revenue data instead of tax return data, as commonly done in the literature, results in a significant bias of the elasticity away from zero","27 S.","https://refubium.fu-berlin.de/handle/fub188/20041||http://dx.doi.org/10.17169/FUDOCS_document_000000021256","eng","urn:nbn:de:kobv:188-fudocsseries000000000318-5||urn:nbn:de:kobv:188-fudocsseries000000000006-7","http://www.fu-berlin.de/sites/refubium/rechtliches/Nutzungsbedingungen","300 Sozialwissenschaften::330 Wirtschaft::336 Öffentliche Finanzen","The Tax-rate Elasticity of Local Business Profits","Buch","open access","Wirtschaftswissenschaft","FUDOCS_derivate_000000004129","FUDOCS_document_000000021256","2014,28 : Economics","Diskussionsbeiträge des Fachbereichs Wirtschaftswissenschaft der Freien Universität Berlin"
